Field IT Technician
Field technicians are the calm, capable face of Everyday Computing when customers need hands-on help. The work suits someone who can diagnose clearly, work neatly in customer spaces, and explain what changed without jargon.
What you'll do
- Attend home and small business support jobs across agreed Sydney service areas
- Troubleshoot computers, Wi-Fi, printers, email, backups, device setup, and common software issues
- Complete pickup/drop-off assessments and installation jobs when onsite repair is not the right fit
- Document job notes, outcomes, follow-up needs, and customer context in the technician portal
- Escalate parts, workshop repair, or specialist work clearly before extra charges proceed
What you'll need
- Australian work rights
- Reliable transport for field appointments
- Comfortable working independently in homes and small offices
- Good written notes and clear customer communication
- Ability to pass any checks required for the work assigned
Helpful experience
- Windows and macOS troubleshooting
- Home Wi-Fi, routers, mesh systems, printers, and smart devices
- Data backup, migration, malware cleanup, and new device setup
- Small business Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive, and basic network support
Tools and setup
- A reliable laptop and phone
- Basic hand tools and cable/testing kit appropriate to IT support work
- Secure remote access process where needed
- Professional presentation for customer visits
Success looks like
- Customers understand what was fixed and what to do next
- Jobs are documented well enough for admin or another technician to follow up
- Extra work is scoped before it proceeds
- You arrive prepared, communicate delays early, and leave the workspace tidy
